Welcome to Northstar Aussies

We have been breeding purebred standard Australian Shepherd pups for 30 years. We are located in beautiful Southwest Minnesota in the heart of farm country. We are a family of six, with four children between the ages of 11 and 28 that all work together everyday. Our family raises lambs and grows corn and soybeans, and our Aussies are by our sides every step of the way. They are indoor and outdoor dogs, great with children, great watch dogs, love working with livestock, and are true members of our family.

Our Aussies

While Australian Shepherds were originally bred to be herding dogs, their intelligence and devotion to their people make them so much more. They have proven themselves to be amazing dogs for livestock, but are just as great for service, therapy, guarding, agility, and much more. Even as a family pet, an Aussie has a job. Whether it’s greeting you at the door when you get home from work, waking the kids up in the morning for school, accompanying you on a big adventure, or comforting you on your bad days (we all have them!)

Our job as the breeder is to find the right personality to fit your lifestyle and complete your family. Coloring is fun, but personality is key!

It’s Summertime at Northstar

Sun’s out, tongues out! Summer is a time for long walks under bright blue skies, chasing sunsets on the beach and tennis balls in green grass, wiggly Aussie butts, and well-deserved pup cups. Life looks better with a four-legged best friend by your side.
